Collaborate

Collaboration is at the heart of the Gateway Psychiatric model of care – collaboration with other clinicians, collaboration with patients, collaboration with family members, and collaboration with you.

The challenge is how best to do that in the real world of busy schedules and complicated clinical situations. We have several tools that we can use to try to make that process a bit more productive.

  1. We can setup a secure online site where documents and messages can be safely exchanged. If we don’t offer to do that, please just ask. Often we are happy to post our clinical notes on the site so that you can see what is going on in our work with a patient practically in real time.
  2. We will likely try to encourage your patient to keep a daily “check-in” which allows us to have a better sense of how moods, anxiety, etcetera, vary with time. We are happy to share that information with you.
  3. We are very comfortable with email and find that, as long as we use initials rather than patient names in our messages, it allows us to trade observations easily with other clinicians.
  4. If there is an urgent need to communicate, I am always happy to have you call me on my cell phone. (call 415-551-0520 and choose the “urgent” option).

If none of those options work for you, please don’t be shy, let us know how you would like to communicate with us.
